It’s late in November
and at the North Pole,
It’s a real busy time
for a very old soul.

It’s Santa of course
but he’s not in his shop,
Because this is a day
that his work has to stop.

It’s just like at your house
on Thanksgiving day,
But some things are different,
I really must say.

See Santa’s whole family
is coming this day,
To visit and have fun
the whole time they stay.

The guests will come in
from all over the place,
And the Clauses will worry
that there’s enough space..

To seat all these people
and feed them all too,
How they do it each year
I just don’t have a clue.

Around this long table
each guest had a seat.
A glass and a plate
made each setting complete.

Mrs. Claus was a good cook
and cooked meals every day.
Today the elves would help her out
each in their special way

You know making a meal
that is this big is tough,
And you want to make sure
that there’s more than enough.

There was roast beef and gravy,
a big ham of course,
And a gelatin mold
in the shape of a horse.

Turkey and stuffing,
potatoes and rolls.
Pickles and olives
each in their own bowls..

Veggies with cheese
with some cranberry sauce,
And a big reindeer salad
they didn’t have to toss.

The elves were invited,
they brought their own food.
They like their own treats
and it’s not that their rude.

Elfburgers and fries
and elf fizzy pops.
Big elfberry pies
and elf gummy drops.

They also had guests
that came in from the stable.
Yes even the reindeer
could sit at this table.

And each year old Santa,
his book he did read.
As he told the same story,
a good one indeed.

He put on his glasses,
looked up and explained.
Though they’d heard it before,
not one guest complained.

“Where did it come from,
this once a year feast?
A long time ago
way back in the East.”

“Pilgrims and Natives,
together they sat,
To eat and to drink
and discuss this and that.”

“They ate and they drank
till they wanted no more.
Then they all took a nap
on a hard wooden floor.”

“We remember each year
what they did back then,
As we count our blessings
again and again.”

Now everyone is hungry,
and it’s almost time to eat.
Reindeer, elves, family and friends,
each one is in their seat.

But first it’s time to bow their heads
and say a silent prayer,
To show that they are thankful
for this good time that they share.

The food is so good
and the talking is fun.
It was a good time
yes for every last one.

The littlest elf
was not a bit shy,
When he asked Mrs. Claus
for the whole pumpkin pie.

But now it’s time to clean up
and get ready to go home.
They had so far to travel
from Miami up to Nome.

So Santa and his Mrs.
walked their guests out to the door.
They hugged and kissed and said goodbye
although they wanted more.

But Santa said I’m sorry and
I know how much your missed us,
But as you know it’s time to go
for me to start my Christmas

And so we’ll wait for Christmas Eve
while snuggled in our bed,
and dream the dreams of Christmas time
and the man who’s dressed in red.
